The Odisea de Juana revolves around the metaphorical and historical figure of Juana I of Castile, commonly known as "Juana la Loca," which is a misnomer. Juana is the superhuman of our story, whose Homeric existential struggles, in her dreams and in her "real" life, finally lead her to a home of her own and to the enlightenment she finds by opening the "doors of perception", thus entering the limitless dimension of the psychedelic world, a world especially known and respected in Oaxaca, where it is an integral part of the daily life of many of its inhabitants.
Among many reasons to support la Odisea de Juana is its appeal to a wide audience beyond the confines of the "art world," including lovers of art and music, film, multimedia, poetry, history, philosophy, Oaxaca, of course, those who wish to support independent creative projects, and creators who struggle to continue working within the ball of confusion that is our current world. As such, Odisea de Juana, is a truly collaborative project involving programmers, photocomposers, videographers, editors, animators, special effects artists, musicians, sound engineers, translators, production assistants, actors, actresses, models, carpenters, printers and others, who have worked with us since 2015, transforming my more than 25,000 photographs taken around the world since 2006 into what I call “photopaintings.” In addition to collaborating with me to create the numerous short films that are an integral part of the Odyssey, linking art history with the art of cinema as they have from the beginning. We also have the support of mezcaleros and others who have donated to the project to allow us to raise the funds we need in order to continue our work. In particular, we have the support of more than 30 Oaxacan and other artists who have contributed their work to the wonderful "Stand by Me" exhibition.

La Odisea de Juana gira en torno a la figura metafórica e histórica de Juana I de Castilla, conocida vulgarmente como "Juana la Loca", un nombre inapropiado. Juana es la superhumana de nuestra historia, cuyas luchas existenciales homéricas en sus sueños y en su vida "real" la llevan por fin a un hogar propio y a la iluminación que encuentra al abrir las "puertas de la percepción", a través de la ilimitada dimensión del mundo psicodélico, un mundo especialmente conocido y respetado en Oaxaca, donde es parte integral de la vida diaria de muchos de sus habitantes. Entre muchas razones para apoyar la Odisea de Juana, está su atractivo para una amplia audiencia más allá de los confines del "mundo del arte", incluidos los amantes del arte y la música, el cine, multimedia, poesía, historia, filosofía, Oaxaca, por supuesto, y en general, aquellos que deseen apoyar proyectos creativos independientes, y creadores que luchan por seguir trabajando dentro de la bola de confusión que es nuestro mundo actual.
Como tal, Odisea de Juana es un proyecto verdaderamente colaborativo que involucra a programadores, fotocompositores, camarógrafos, editores, animadores, artistas de efectos especiales, músicos, ingenieros de sonido, traductores, asistentes de producción, actores, actrices, modelos, carpinteros, impresores y otros, que han trabajado con nosotros desde 2015, transformando mis más de 25,000 fotografías tomadas en todo el mundo desde 2006 en lo que yo llamo “fotopinturas”. Además de colaborar conmigo para crear los numerosos cortometrajes que son parte integral de la Odisea, vinculándose como lo hacen desde el principio la historia del arte con el arte del cine. También contamos con el apoyo de mezcaleros y otras personas que han donado al proyecto para permitirnos recaudar los fondos que necesitamos con el fin de continuar con nuestro trabajo. En particular, contamos con el apoyo de más de 35 artistas oaxaqueños y residentes en el estado que han aportado su obra a la suntuosa exposición "Stand by Me".
