As Long as it Lasts
In Rotterdam, which I visited in 2011 to borrow images from the Nederlands Fotomuseum of the 1953
Holland floods for use in the Ship of Fools image, a sign I photographed stencilled by an unknown artist
in the subway, As Long as it Lasts, became the fotopainting of the same name. The underworld train is
symbolic of a dream voyage to the dark side as are the many images, I have made depicting Juana´s
journey through a broken world as do the Altar panels such as Falling, Soraya, The Ship of Fools, Red
River, and Der Storm/Tsunami, which show us Juana´s odyssey through a dreamworld of raging fires,
tsunamis, and mountains of human waste. ... [leer más]
In Plato´s Retreat, a single image named for both Plato´s Cave
and the infamous New York swingers club, Juana is tortured and used by the architects of our current
dystopia. In other single images and in the altar, she is often accompanied or pursued by a dog, who
represents man, the companion, the sexual predator, and the protector, and by her daughter Catalina,
whom she tries to protect from aliens, harpies and other monsters of the mind. In this section, As Long as
it Lasts, many of these hundreds of fotopaintings can be viewed in the accompanying gallery.
Yet it is the two short films of the section, As Long as it Lasts and Chapter Two, which are the ultimate
result of this creative process, and in them I make use of the still images in a narrative and kinetic way,
with musical scores by my son Leonardo and his band Dr. Baby. In these two intense and fast paced still
image films, the full force of Juana´s Boschian nightmares and fantasies vividly explodes.

En Róterdam, que visité en 2011 para tomar prestadas imágenes del Nederlands Fotomuseum de las
inundaciones de Holanda de 1953 para usarlas en la imagen de Ship of Fools, un cartel que fotografié
estampado por un artista desconocido en el metro, Mientras dure, se convirtió en una pintura fotográfica
del mismo nombre. El tren del inframundo simboliza los viajes de ensueño al lado oscuro y, por lo tanto,
las muchas imágenes que he creado para representar el viaje de Juana a través de un mundo roto, además
de las imágenes del Altar como Falling, Soraya, The Ship of Fools, Red River y Der Storm/Tsunami.... [leer más]
Estas imágenes representan la odisea de Juana a través de un mundo de ensueño, de fuegos furiosos, montañas
de desechos humanos y en el Retiro de Platón, llamado así por la Cueva de Platón y el infame club de
swingers de Nueva York del mismo nombre, donde es torturada y utilizada junto a Felipe por los artífices
de nuestra distopía actual. En otras imágenes y en el altar, Juana está muchas veces acompañada o
perseguida por un perro, que representa al hombre, el compañero, el depredador sexual y el protector; y
por su hija Catalina, a quien trata de proteger de los extraterrestres, arpías y otros monstruos de la mente.

adjunta.
En los dos cortometrajes, As Long as it Lasts y Chapter Two, que son el resultado final de este proceso
creativo, hago uso de las imágenes de forma narrativa y cinética, con videoclips e imágenes adicionales
prestadas, y con música grabada para las películas por mi hijo Leonardo y su banda Dr. Baby. Y en estas
dos intensas y rápidas películas de imágenes fijas, explota vívidamente toda la fuerza de las pesadillas y
